Somewhere along the way, we’ve all heard that you should have them run one way in the winter and reverse them in the summer. But what’s the right direction for which season?
According to Bob Vila (at www.bobvila.com), ceiling fans should rotate counter-clockwise in the summer (think backwards) and clockwise in the winter. Running your ceiling fans in the right direction can save you up to 40% on your cooling bill in the summer and 10-15% on your heating bill in the winter.
So, Moms, at the top of your household to-do list should be getting out the step stool and making sure you adjust all your ceiling fans for the coming summer. And then, start using them. We could all use some dollars going back into our wallet!
