The ICE is Cool – But It’s Not the Only Attraction at the Gaylord Texan Resort this Christmas!

Gaylord Texan Resort Christmas Tree at Lone Star ChristmasEvery year, the Gaylord Texan Resort transforms into a magical, winter wonderland. Their Lone Star Christmas officially kicked off on in November with brilliantly decorated atriums, 1.5 million lights, a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree, 7-foot ornaments suspended from the immense glass roof, live reindeer, a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree, magical train sets winding through 1,000 feet of track, a life-size gingerbread house made from 5,000 square feet of gingerbread, Santa’s workshop including a cookie conveyor belt and control station, a variety of holiday entertainment including Santa and Mrs. Claus, toy soldier stilt walkers, singing cowboys, and more.

Gaylord Texan Ice Exhibit slideAnd, of course, you just might have to stroll on over to the ICE! exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. Two million pounds of ice has been hand-carved and kept at a frosty 9° (they provide polar-grade coats, but you may still be chilly inside!). This year, the exhibit features “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” and opens Thursday, November 12th, 2009 and run through Sunday, January 3rd, 2010. The exhibit will be open 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Ticket prices are cheaper Monday – Thursday ranging from $20 for adults and $10 for children 4-12 and a few dollars more on the weekend. Complimentary self-parking is included with ticket purchases. And you can book your tickets on-line.  Be forewarned, the traffic lines getting into the Gaylord Texan off Hwy. 26 can be very long.  Make sure a potty break isn’t imminent before you begin the wait to park.
