Wow, what a surprise it was when we received an e-mail from Rebekah Cooksey at Moms Out Loud letting us know that we had won a private visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus. When I told my little girl, Emma, she was so EXCITED! All we had to do was to share our Christmas traditions with the Moms Out Loud viewing audience. We shared one of our favorite traditions – We celebrate Jesus’ Birthday every year on Christmas Day with our little cousins and we sing Happy Birthday over and over again letting each child have their turn at blowing out the candles on Jesus’ cake. They love this and we are putting the focus of Christmas right where it belongs – on our Lord and Savior. As time has passed and the children are now old enough, they are making and decorating the cake themselves. This is a much anticipated event when all the kids are together at Grandma & Grandpa’s house for Christmas.
When it was time for our special visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus, we were filled with much anticipation. Emma had invited a group of special friends over for the festivities. We had about 15 children at our home that evening. We celebrated by sharing cookies and milk and signing Christmas Carols around the Christmas Tree, while waiting for Santa’s arrival. Emma, 6 years old, even played “Away in the Manger” on the piano for her friends. Finally, we heard the jingling of Santa’s bells and who walked through the front door…..the one and only SANTA CLAUS. The children all ran with excitement to greet him. Santa and Mrs. Clause joined us around the Christmas tree and read a story about the real meaning of Christmas. Santa told the children about the first Christmas and the birth of baby Jesus. After reading the story, Santa & Mrs. Clause passed out gifts to each child and all the children had a special visit on Santa’s knee. What a night to remember and what an amazing memory for my daughter and her dear friends.
Thank you to Moms Out Loud for making this possible.
