Well, I’m new to Today’s Mama so I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself! My name is Jennifer but most people call me Jen for short. I’m crazy in love with my red headed other half and we have 2 beautiful children. We love Jesus with all of our hearts and live to glorify Him each and every day!
My life is anything but normal, but I love it nonetheless. I’ve served in full-time missions for 14 years, and it’s been an adventure as I’ve traveled to 17 different countries! Three years ago, our family moved to S. Africa to start Ten Thousand Homes, a non-profit that creates hope and home for orphans. I love that my children are able to be a part of God’s heart of caring for the orphan! After 3 years in Africa, about 500 kids are being cared for in 3 different communities.
After 14 years in full-time missions, I was, shall we say, a bit weary. It was time for a rest. So November 2009, we traveled here to the states to begin a sabbatical. It’s been a great time. A time that I am very thankful for and that I’m trying to savor and make the most of. I realize it’s not the norm to be able to come away just to focus on family, rest, God, and everything else that matters most to me.
This rest time has also proved valuable in letting me enjoy my hobbies. I’m sort of a hobbie junkie, I think. Or maybe I should say a craft hobby junkie. I love all sorts of crafts and am not afraid to learn a new one if it interests me. Currently my hobby list includes knitting, sewing, photography, scrapbooking (although this one I haven’t done much of lately), and blogging. I am a picture taking freak so you’ll see LOTS of photos included in my posts.
I am so excited to be posting under the category of Creative Home. Creativity has become a passion for me over the years. I never thought that would happen! I so look forward to sharing more of my creative journey and the values my family and I now hold to along the creativity lines. I do hope you will join me!
