Creative Christmas :: Gifting
Please make sure you read to the end. There’s a giveaway opportunity for the fabric bead necklaces under the crafting section!
I honestly didn’t know where to begin or end with this post! There are so many great creative gifting ideas out there! Some that caught my eye…
Knitting…
For Girls and Boys…
Food For The Kitchen – I love little knitted food items! Why not make a little basket and fill it with ice cream cones, cherries, strawberries, watermelon, apples, pears, oranges, carrots, peas in a pod, eggplant, squash (also check the errata on this one), cupcakes (instead of a pin cushion), pizza, fried eggs, and cherry pie! Those are some free patterns but I must admit this fruit and vegetable basket definitely looks like it’s worth the $2.95 for the pattern!
Hurricane Hat – My kids get a new hat every year for Christmas. Last year my girl got the Hurricane Hat and it is so cute! Check my Ravelry page for notes on making this for a 4-6 year old.
Smoky Stripes Beanie Hat – My son is getting this one this year! I love the classic look of this hat.
Frog – I love Susan B. Anderson’s Ribbit pattern although I am a sucker for knitted toys! Her Itty Bitty Toys book is also full of some great toy patterns!
Poppy – This pattern isn’t free, but I’ve had my eye on this doll for some time, so I had to include it on here!
Blocks – For the baby in your family, these are adorable!
Neighborly – My little girl received this for Christmas last year. Such a sweet pattern from JCasa handmade!
Cable Vest – Make your boy look like a Gap model with this cute vest! If you would like a cable-less vest, go for this Naturally Classic Vest.
For Men and Women…
Knucks – These seem to be a hot item around these parts right now. I love this pattern. It’s easy and there’s even instructions to make these fingerless gloves for children! Matching son and father knucks?
Shawl – I love the versatility of this shawl! Shawl, cowl, wrap…it’s just beautiful!
Chocolate Ribbed Hat – I love the small stripes in this hat!
Robin’s Egg Blue Hat – I love the huge button on this hat!
Socks – How about some Mr. Pitt’s Socks for the men and some Hedgerow Socks for the women!
Buttercup – This might seem a bit springy but put a long sleeve t under it and you can wear it in cool and warm weather!
Shalom Cardigan – Such a great pattern! (Go to the link and look for it in the sidebar.) Knit this up using one skien of Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool for only $15!
Ruffle Scarf – Absolutely loving this scarf pattern!
Men’s Ribbed Scarf – The stripes at the bottom really make this simple scarf stand out!
Sewing…
For Girls and Boys…
Market Skirts – I’ve had this site bookmarked for a while. I’m a sucker for hand sewn skirts and this one is at the top of my list!
Checkerboard Game – My son is a game lover! This would perfect for around the house or to take on trips!
Hooded Baby Doll Blanket – My girlie has all kinds of baby dolls that she always needs blankets for! Pair this gift with a doll and it’s sure to please!
Montessori Kid’s Apron – Wouldn’t this apron from Sew Liberated be lovely paired with that knitted basket of fruit? If you’re not a knitter pair it with a food set for your food lover or a paint set for your artist!
Fabric Dollhouse – I love how cute this is and how it folds up easily!
Monkey Softie – Make Molly Monkey for your girl or turn it into Mikey for a boy!
Bowling Shirt – Purchase this pattern and sew up an adorable bowling shirt for your boy!
Pajama Pants – Who doesn’t need a new pair of pajama pants?
For Men and Women…
Reversible Bag – No woman can have too many bags, right?
The 20 Minute Skirt – So cute and simple. I think I could squeeze 20 minutes in somewhere to make this beauty!
Homemade Heating Pad – With winter approaching this would be the perfect thing to keep warm!
Drawstring Pants – Perfect for men and women!
Fabric Storage Cube – I’m all about cute things for organization! Also, check out Obsessively Stitching‘s Dollar Store Projects!
Glove Grips – Add this extra bit of grip to your man’s gloves. Only minimal sewing skills required (no sewing machine).
Neck Ties – Doesn’t every man need at least one tie for those special occasions? Check these out from Purl Bee.
BBQ Apron – It seems every man is particular about his BBQ. Give him a new BBQ set with this apron (aprons aren’t just for women, you know).
Crafting…
For Girls and Boys…
Mini Book – These would be perfect gifts for your kids to make and give to each other! Such a great idea from Creativity Prompt!
Mini Chalkboards – We made mini chalkboards to give away to guests at a birthday party. If you have a lot of kids to get gifts for, this would be a perfect gift!
Wee Girls – If your girl has a dollhouse, wouldn’t these look cute with it? I don’t know if my crafting skills go this far, but I’d sure like to try!
Kid Size Kitchen – My husband made a kitchen for our daughter one year and she still loves it!
Puppet Playhouse – This would surely get the creative imagination going! Make some sock puppets to go along with the puppet theater!
Wooden Baby Blocks – How adorable are these!
For Men and Women…
Painted Jars – I love jars! This is a great addition to a gift basket as they’re so versatile. Use them as a vase, candle holder, or a jar to hold all your odds and ends! There’s also jar lanterns. It’s not too ambitious to think of summer parties in the winter, is it?
Fabric Bead Necklace – They’ll think you spent lots on this awesome necklace! Please click here to see how you can win a fabric bead necklace kit! (Giveaway ends November 16th so hurry on over!)
Fabric Art – These are awesome! Such a great and easy way to create some bold artwork!
Beaded Earrings – Great for those of us who have never made earrings. Makes a great gift, too!
Newsprint Basket – I have a purse made out of Hong Kong newspapers. I get so many compliments on it, because it’s different. These newsprint baskets would be a great unique gift!
Lemon Candles – These look so cool! If you’re a little intimidated by the thought of making candles, then check out these frosty salted candles you can do with store bought candles!
Accordion Gallery – You can never go wrong with a gift of photos. Check out this cool way to display them!
