Being a Mom to 11 year old twins makes for a zany, unpredictable, yet richly rewarding life. Thank goodness for my wonderfully supportive hubby who keeps me grounded. I'm a writer, an editor and an online media professional. I write about pretty much anything that inspires me. I enjoy interviewing interesting people and sharing my thoughts on my family's experiences at various events and activities. I might also share a favorite recipe or two, particularly if it's something I've thrown together that turns out to be yummy! Outside of contributing to DFWmama.com, you can also find me at NorthTexasKids.com and over at my blog TheMomsJournal.com.

Recommended Summer Reading Lists for Kids

I recently put together a list of 19 summer reading programs (local and national ones). My twins and I discussed and downloaded the logs for the programs they chose. They are excited about reading over the summer and I’m excited about their enthusiasm! We also started thinking about what books they might read so I started searching the Internet for recommended summer reading lists for kids. I was happy to find lots of good information and here are a few of the lists I think are some of the more helpful ones out there.

Summer Reading List by The Horn Book – Picture books, early readers, younger fiction, Intermediate school, Middle school and High School.

HAISLN Recommended Reading List – Grades K – 12

Parkway Summer Reading List (Elementary School) – Grades K-6

Parkway Summer Reading List (Middle School) – Grades 6 – 9

Notable Children’s Books – Young reader, middle reader, older reader and all ages

NEH Summertime Favorites – Grades K-12

With these helpful reading recommendations and multiple summer reading programs to choose from, I’m hoping to keep my kids interested in reading all summer long!
