Take the family and check out downtown Dallas’ newest tourist attraction, Heart Attack Grill. Their menu is not for the faint of heart as they proudly offer unhealthy fare (no diet colas or tea, the fries are cooked in pure lard and plenty of calories in the butterfat milkshakes) and as you may or may not have heard, their opening day was greeted by protests.
We had a childhood friend visiting from out of state, so we wanted to visit this tourist attraction. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have to wait in line. As we walked in, we were dressed in patient smocks and our orders were taken by a scantily dressed nurse. It took some time to cook as there wasn’t much help in the grill area, but we enjoyed the artwork and marveled at how long the line out the door got after getting in so quickly.
Our food was delivered in a medical tray by our waiter who was dressed up in blue scrubs. I shared my burger with my eight year old and slurped on my butterfat milkshake (until I got I a little queasy from all the sugar).
The consensus? We finished our burgers and although we felt like we needed to jog afterwards as the food was very heavy, it was a fun lunch. Be sure to bring cash, as the restaurant doesn’t accept credit cards.
