This cooler weather is bringing about some good old-fashioned BBQ cravings! What better than to indulge in unlimited samples of serious BBQ while supporting a very worthy local cause? This weekend, September 9th and 10th, Bass Pro Shops and Embassy Suites in Grapevine will be hosting a BBQ cookoff to benefit Camp Craig Allen.
The Bass Pro Shop parking lot will be transformed into one giant party, complete with a casino, silent and live auctions, concessions (including adult drinks!), and multiple kid’s activities. ESPN will be out broadcasting live for all of you sports enthusiasts.
Friday night you are invited to start off this celebration with a 5pm Kick-Off Party and Concert. For a small fee of $20 you will receive dinner, entertainment by live bands, dancing, Poker Tournament (inside the casino tent) and $1,000 worth of casino chips! Alcohol cash bars will be available.
Saturday, $10 gets you an unlimited BBQ bracelet. This means you could eat all day from 11 am until 7 pm for $10! Bring the entire family for fun and games. The BBQ Cook Off is Saturday only. The bracelet can be purchased at the gates in the Bass Pro Shops parking lot. Celebrity judges will be tasting and judging all day!
The best part of this fantastic event is that all proceeds go to Camp Craig Allen. Camp Craig Allen, which is located in Aubrey, Texas, is based on one young man’s dream of building an entire barrier free summer camp for wheelchair bound children. Craig attended a Muscular Dystrophy Camp every summer as he was growing up in a non-accessible environment. One summer it rained the entire camp and Craig’s dream became to build a camp that is 100% accessible, with concrete walkways and is totally covered. This camp would enable people with all disabilities, even severe, the experience of going to summer camp. The camp would have no obstacles and no age restrictions. Craig passed away in 1989 at 22 years of age. His sister Dawn is still dedicating her life to making Craig’s dream come true.
Come out to Bass Pro Shops on Friday night with your significant other or with your entire family on Saturday. Pay a small fee for an unforgettable time. While you’re having fun with your family, take a moment to explain to them the importance of this event and the contribution you are making to the legacy of one very special man, in a very big way.
