Lisa is a lawyer by education and a homebody by inclination. She is married to a wonderful man who knows his way around a washing machine and who has the legs to look awesome in a kilt, mom to two busy boys whose interests range from video games and lightsabers to Thomas the Tank Engine, and personal pincushion for the family's diva cat, 18-year-old Oscar. She worked in the financial services industry for a number of years, and before that, was privileged to serve as an assistant county and district attorney in two different Texas counties. In her spare time, Lisa likes to cook, play the piano, and read (favorites include sci-fi/fantasy and mystery/suspense, but anything is fair game). Chocolate and Coffee? Good! The White Rhino? Great!

I love good coffee. I love good chocolate. I’ve now found the perfect pick-me-up that combines the two at White Rhino Coffee in Cedar Hill. Their Facebook page lists such tempting holiday offerings as Honey/Cinnamon Latte and Peppermint Mocha. But they’ve come up with what I believe must be the penultimate holiday delight, a magnificent combination of chocolate and coffee: the Nutella latte. That’s right, the hazelnutty chocolaty fabulosity that is Nutella has been combined with a latte. And it is So. Very. GOOD.

Sadly, I didn’t take a picture of my latte, as I was in my car on my way to work. But I’m surely hoping White Rhino will make this a year-round offering and not just save it for Christmastime. Served with a topping of whipped cream and chopped hazelnuts, this drink was a delightful blend of flavors. The chocolate and hazelnut predominated, but it was definitely a coffee drink. I think even non-coffee drinkers might enjoy this, though, it’s that chocolaty and smooth.

White Rhino also features a selection of pastries that are sure to delight – muffins, cake, cookies – and a wide variety of coffee drinks. The Toasted Coconut is very good, made with half and half so it’s extra creamy, and I also like the Hug in a Cup. But if you’re shopping at Uptown Village this holiday season and want a break, head on over to old Cedar Hill and stop in at White Rhino for a Nutella latte. Just consider it a Christmas gift to yourself!
