Gift of Lights
What better way to kick off the Christmas season than visiting Texas Motor Speedway? But, wait, it’s not what you think. You won’t be watching and hearing race cars roar by, but rather driving thru a 1.7 mile long display of nearly two million lights! For all you avid racecar fans hoping to get on the track, the entire display is under the massive bleachers. Can you imagine the enormity of this place?
My family and I were lucky enough to get a VIP media tour of Gift of Lights last week and were excited beyond belief. Normally, we get our visual kicks by strolling thru our neighborhood. This was a real treat for us; especially since we had never been to the Texas Motor Speedway.
For those of you who like to conserve energy, you’ll be pleased to learn that the electricity bill for the 2 million LED light display is about $700 for the entire one month plus run.
Cost of admission is $15/ car from Monday – Thursday and $20 for Friday – Sunday. If you and your family would like to create your own holiday memories and become a part of this new display, it runs until Sunday, January 1. Below are some discounts available with the benefiting charities (a win-win situation):
- $2 off ticket with a donation to Goodwill Fort Worth – coupons available on their website
- $2 off with 3 cans of food for the Tarrant Area Food Bank
There are special discounted nights:
- Be one of the first 15,000 vehicles to visit and receive a holiday gift bag with values from the event sponsors presented by Michaels.
- FREE admission on Monday, December 5 thanks to NBC 5.
- Special treats from Clear Channel Radio on Friday, December 16 in Santa’s Village.
