I have the best recommendation for a family fun weekend, with nothing but Christmas, Christmas, and more Christmas! Visit Grapevine, Texas. Check into one of the many local hotels for a jolly weekend of Christmas Cheer!
Both the Great Wolf Lodge and the Gaylord Texan Resort have excellent holiday packages, included exciting events located right within the hotel’s doors. Experience Ice! at the Gaylord Texan and stroll through a winter wonderland with 2 million pounds of ice featuring this year’s theme, Dreamworks’ Shrek the Halls. The Great Wolf Lodge has it’s own festivities called Snowland. Visit a life-sized gingerbread house and enjoy daily snowfalls, inside the lodge!
Grapevine’s downtown district is specially lit with millions of lights, twinkling holiday displays and Christmas decorations galore. The town’s square hosts a wide variety of events, such as: Light Show Spectacular at the Gazebo and the Runway Theater presents ”Scrooge, The Musical”.
Don’t miss the outdoor presentation of the “Journey to Bethlehem”. Immerse yourself in the Biblical story of the Birth of Jesus. This event is free and open to the public. I’ll post more information on this as soon as I experience this for myself!
Most people know Grapevine because of the importance of it’s namesake: the winery tours and wine-tasting, which actually is fun for the entire family. Delaney Vineyards is offering wine tasting, along with warm apple cider for the little ones. Take pictures in their holiday vignettes located throughout the vineyard.
