Cameron Crowe once again delivers a stellar performance in the upcoming film, We Bought A Zoo.  I went into the screening thinking that it was a family movie.  On the contrary, this is a beautiful date night movie for mamas and papas.  Just be sure to bring your tissues, because this film will touch the depths of your heart.

Everyone has their indicators of what makes a movie great for them. For me, if a movie can make me laugh and cry, it’s awesome in my book.  We Bought A Zoo did both of those things.  A heartwarming true story of Benjamin Mee, father to two kids who loses his wife to cancer, needs a change in his life so he buys a struggling zoo.  Yes, a zoo.  Though his brother tried to convince him otherwise and mounting circumstances made him want to throw in the towel, Benjamin discovered how taking a risk can actually be the best thing you can do.

I didn’t have any expectations going into this movie and came out absolutely loving it.  The tears flowed as I was so touched by Benjamin Mee, played by Matt Damon, and the apparent love he had for his late wife.  I fell in love with Rosie, Benjamin’s 6 year old daughter played by Maggie Elizabeth Jones, with her sweet giggles and beautiful smile, but perhaps the most touching moments for me came from seeing Benjamin strive to be a good father in the midst of such tragedy.

My favorite line in the whole movie, “Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will happen.”

I would definitely recommend We Bought A Zoo.  You will walk out feeling like you saw something that touched the depths of your heart and inspired you to take risks to pursue dreams.

(A note to mamas, there are about five swear words in the movie.  Thought you should know in case you are considering taking the little ones.)

Hmmm… Maybe have a chance to wear some fancy stilettos while in a Oscar De La Renta gown.. I’m a mom of 6 including a 6 months baby… but I seriously don’t think there’s a designer dress with “openings” for nursing moms! 🙂 So going to see a movie is my fanciest, craziest dream for the whooping 20 seconds of insane courage. 😉
    Thanks for the give away!
