Being a Mom to 11 year old twins makes for a zany, unpredictable, yet richly rewarding life. Thank goodness for my wonderfully supportive hubby who keeps me grounded. I'm a writer, an editor and an online media professional. I write about pretty much anything that inspires me. I enjoy interviewing interesting people and sharing my thoughts on my family's experiences at various events and activities. I might also share a favorite recipe or two, particularly if it's something I've thrown together that turns out to be yummy! Young King Arthur at Dallas Children’s Theater March 9th – April 1st

Young King Arthur - Dallas Children's Theater

Steeped in British legend and myth is Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts world premiere production of Young King Arthur playing March 9 – April 1, 2012 at Dallas Children’s Theater.

One of the most popular British tales of all time, Young King Arthur is the beloved story of a boy whose destiny is to become King. Replete with castles, dragons, magic and mystery, Young King Arthur is filled with thrills and enchantment. Original characters such as a sorceress owl named Ornithia and a merlin hawk appear, and Merlin has many comical moments when he forgets his incantations, yet the primary theme of the story remains Arthur’s journey to the throne.

Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts is the oldest resident puppet theater in the southwest. Established in 1973, Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts is one of the few puppet theaters in the country that uses all styles of puppetry. In this production, the company seamlessly blends their style of Czech Black Theatre with elements of Bunraku, a form of traditional Japanese puppetry where the puppeteer appears in full view. Although the puppeteers are seen, they appear neutral wearing all black directing the viewer’s focus to the colorful, animated puppet. Marrying Eastern and Western puppetry art forms, Burks creates an exciting, dramatic rendition of the tale filled with all the grandeur, fantasy and fun of the most celebrated King in British lore.

Enjoy an opening night Medieval party on Friday, March 9th for additional fun! Dress up as your favorite medieval character and join other Knights, Ladies, Kings and Queens for an evening of merriment. Each family that attends opening night gets a free show poster. After the performance, enjoy a post show meet & greet and a special demonstration by the master puppeteers.
