Pick your own berries at Blueberry Hill Farms

If you are looking for an experience for the summer, you can pick your own berries at Blueberry Hill Farms in Edom, Texas. While it is a bit of a drive from Dallas, it was clean, provided water and restrooms and only charges for what you pick, not just for the privilege of coming. They have a very informative website that is updated several times a day to let you know how the berries are looking with a 1 to 10 rating system.  We went on a day that was rated a 10 and it was amazingly easy picking. You couldn’t miss the ripe blueberries!

We brought home two huge bags of fresh blueberries and have enjoyed the fresh fruit as well as fresh blueberry muffins (I used Chef John’s Blueberry Muffins recipe) and my first try at Blueberry Freezer Jam (used this recipe from the Frugal Girl–so easy and so good). Now that we are having triple digit weather, I recommend waiting for a cloudy day or trying to get there as early as possible. If you have another great recipe I should try, please let me know!
