Red White and Blue Blast in Sachse

I can’t even believe I’m writing this, but – the 4th of July will be here before you know it!  It seems like just yesterday I was very pregnant, buying fireworks at a roadside stand so my two-year-old would have some poppers to throw on the ground to celebrate the 4th.  We were out in the country and I was huge and it was hot (really hot, actually – do you remember last summer in Texas?) and there wasn’t much to do, so a few poppers were the extent of our 4th of July celebration.

My, how things have changed!

This year we are in a new town, 4th of July activities abound, and I am not pregnant!

I am pretty sure we’ll be celebrating the 4th (a day early) at the Red, White & Blue Blast at Heritage Park in Sachse on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012.

There will be something for everyone, so bring the whole family.  Face-painting, bounce houses, food, live music, a parade and fireworks are just a few of the activities taking place.

The 9th annual Independence Day Parade starts at 6:00 PM – it will start at Sachse City Hall and end at Heritage Park (which has a covered playground, and is where the festivities will take place).

At 7 PM, the live music starts with Reuben Lael, and at 8 PM, Daughter Judy Band takes the stage.

Daughter Judy Band performs at 8 PM.

Have fun watching (or participating in!) the Pie Eating Contest and/or the Hula Hoop Contest.  If you have a little girl in your life, you can buy her a red, white and blue tutu (and support Sachse High School class of 2015 at the same time).

A complete list of activities can be found here.

A list of places to park can be found here – shuttles will be running from 6:30-11:00 PM.

There will be a collection point for non-perishable food donations for the Crossroads House Food Pantry, so please bring some canned food to help make the food drive a success, as well.

It looks like I won’t be setting off fireworks in my front yard this year, but I think that’s a good thing.  It’s been a long time since I’ve seen “real” fireworks, and I am looking forward to our first 4th of July as a family of four.  It looks like we’ll be getting the party started a day early at Sachse’s Red, White & Blue Blast.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been looking all over for July 3rd fireworks and am relieved to find some in our own backyard (I’m in Murphy!).
