I had recently received a package with three different varieties of Stonefire Naan. If you haven’t had Naan, it’s Middle-Eastern flatbread – like a cross between pita and focaccia bread made in a tandoor oven. I’d also received several different recipes, so I’d plan to make three meals with the Naan to change things up – one meal to introduce it to my family with hummus, another meal using it as a pizza crust so my son could top it with his favorite things and then another meal using it as a sandwich/Panini.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. The first whole package of the garlic Naan got gobbled up by just putting a little water on it and then baking it for a few minutes. The second one did make it as pizza, but everyone wanted their own pizza so we had to break open the last package. And the last Naan bread…well he turned into a rollup kind of thing for mom in a quick dash to create something healthy for lunch with some cheese, vegetables and olive oil.
Needless to say, my family LOVED it and we are hooked. It was nice to have a little different texture and flavor in things that we would normally use with bread or tortillas. Best of all, my son is excited to try the Peanut Butter Naan for his first lunch at school and I’m totally excited about the Raspberry Nutella Pizza! Either way it’s a big score to take our boring food routine and jazz it up with some cultural flavor like Naan.
