I must confess, aside from the Midway, I go to the State Fair of Texas to sample the latest and craziest food. Last year, I blogged about the deep fried bubblegum. This year, you may read about my tasty finds at this upcoming fair.
The 2012 Big Tex Choice Awards Finalists have been announced and can be found below.
Which one would you be willing to wait in lengthy lines to sample? I would love to try the chicken-friend cactus bites or the fried bacon cinnamon roll (what’s up with the bacon in everything phenomena?).

The State Fair of Texas will run from September 28 through October 21 at Fair Park in Dallas. Although there is food to sample, the State Fair of Texas also has entertainment, an auto show, creative arts and livestock.
