I am so excited to announce to you that the new Frisco MTB Trail will officially be open on October 6, 2012. This is a mutli-use bike/hike trail that so many residents in Frisco and the surrounding area have been waiting for.
The actual Grand Opening Ceremony is a free event that the entire family can enjoy. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 9:00 am on the 6th with festivities beginning thereafter. Here is a link to the map.
The biggest part of the day is the Take a Kid Mountain Biking Event! This is a fantastic way to introduce your child to the sport of Mountain Biking. Check your child in between 8 and 10 am, to make sure they have the proper equipment (bike and helmet). Next they’ll attend a Safety Talk and then they can hit the trails starting at 10am!
The first few trail rides are for the kids only. (How fun is that?) They will be chaperoned around the trails by local biking experts. The trails have hills but they are in no way too difficult for the kiddos.
The parents and other folks have access to the trails around 1:00pm that day, after all the kids have had their rides. The outer loop is 2.5 miles, with more difficult extensions planned to be built in the future.
My children love to ride bikes! Who doesn’t? This event is the perfect way for them to build the confidence they need to hit the trails! Gather up your kiddos, bikes and helmets and come out to celebrate these fantastic trails on October 6th.
