Halloween at Canterbury Court in Plano

Monster High

If your neighborhood is a bit lacking in the creative department for Halloween decorating you may need to head over to Plano for a fun Halloween night. Local residents on Canterbury Court create a haunting display of Halloween fun right in their own front yards. Bring your kiddos to this yearly block party for the absolute best in trick-or-treating.

For the past twenty years a local retired engineer has been designing his front yard for Halloween based on current and popular themes. The family starts in July with the design and creates masterpieces of Halloween fun year after year! This year’s theme is Monster High. All of the girls from Monster High are there! Each one hand made, standing in front of their themed backdrop. Notice the Monster Math, after all doesn’t a Zombie + Bat = A Flying Zombie?

Other families have joined in the Halloween fun over the years. Another local engineer, a few houses up the street, also turns his front yard into a themed Halloween party. His theme this year is “Plants vs Zombies”. Each creature is handmade, and there are many, complete with lights for a fantastic night time glow! Each family member will dress up in a matching costume to carry on their theme.

Other yards are also fully decorated. You’ll find a grave yard, a giant table set for a spook fest, the Bates Motel shower, and much more.

Guests can park at  Plano Senior High School, near the corner of Park and Independence. There is no fee for admittance to this spectacular block festival. The Plano Police block off the street as thousands of eager trick-or-treaters make their way yearly up and down this street.

Plano takes neighborhood trick-or-treating to a new level. The majority of the displays are kid friendly, but for the parents, a little spook can be found! The night of Halloween is celebrated like no other on Canterbury Court.
