Get Ready for Christmas at the Wylie Arts Festival 2012

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!

For some reason, that particular line of that particular Christmas song is on repeat in my head these days.  Kinda tired of it, already…but what I’m NOT tired of is Christmas!

In my world, Christmas can’t come too early!  I consider early Christmas celebrations and decorations to be preparation…and we all like to be prepared, right?

That’s why I’ll be taking the kids to the Wylie Arts Festival 2012 at FBC Wylie Event Center on Saturday, December 1st.

I am lazy and I like to do my Christmas shopping on Amazon, but this year I’m trying to change that and support local shops and vendors (in fact, Small Business Saturday is November 24th – buy something local!).  The Wylie Arts Festival 2012 is the perfect place for doing just that (and it’s open all day – from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM).

With over 95 art and handmade craft booths, there will be plenty of stuff to choose from.

Bring the kids – this event has something for them, too!  There will be food booths, a children’s area, pictures with Santa and a parade!  The Festival of Lights Christmas Parade begins at 5:30 and can be seen on Ballard street between Jefferson Street and Oak Street.

At 7:00 PM, choirs and carolers will be singing at the Olde City Park Christmas Tree Lighting.

So bring the whole family…get the kids excited about Christmas (unless you’re like me, and have been getting them ready for Santa for a couple of weeks already) and support your local shops and vendors.
