Carrie is a stay-at-home-mom to two children, Jack (3) and Claire (1). Previously an account manager for a local insurance firm, she now spends the days wrangling small children and wondering how the house got so messy, and considers the day a success if everyone is dressed by noon. She also likes horses, books, iced tea and lip gloss. She blogs about learning to be a Stay-at-Home-Mom at Carrie Elle.

Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson

The Cottonwood Art Festival, a biannual event in Richardson, is happening on May 4-5, 2013 – and you won’t want to miss it!

This free event features over 240 artists from all over the nation. Artists are picked by a jury – more than 1400 applied! The artists then compete in 14 categories, including photography, Sculpture and Wood, Glass, and mixed media. You can see a list of the artists here.

Stroll through the festival and check out all the amazing art…but there’s a lot more than art at this festival!

There will be performances from local bands as well as food and a chance to relax in the shade at the Lakeside Courtyard.

Kids will also have plenty to do – be sure to take the little ones to the ArtStop Children’s Area. Kids will enjoy some hands-on artistic time, with a chance to create a hat from scrap, work with plaster, add to a collage, or try their hand at sculpting with a real potter’s wheel!

The Cottonwood Art Festival is happening on Saturday, May 4th from 10AM-7PM (live music continues until 8PM). The following day, Sunday, May 5th, you can attend from 10AM-6PM. The festival is located at Cottonwood Park (click here for the map).
