As I looked at this morning’s front page newspaper cover, it’s hard to believe that I recently saw Oprah and sat in her LifeClass.
Yesterday, I found myself alone in the car while making my way through Dallas’ crazy downtown traffic. Not only was that a feat in itself, but it seemed like everything fell into place without a hitch. I found nearby covered parking, located the media line without any difficulty, and had an amazing view of Oprah. How incredibly lucky was I?
I kept asking myself that same question ever since receiving notification that my media credential to this wonderful faith and family event was granted. Not only did I surprise myself, but I surprised my husband who kept telling me “Don’t embarrass yourself”. My parents and sisters still giggle at the unbelievable luck I’ve had.
It wasn’t until Oprah’s first few words she uttered that I realized I was meant to be there. She said to the audience, “you are meant to be here”. Okay, maybe I shouldn’t take her so literally, but how else could I have explained it?
After all these years, I finally got my chance to see Oprah. I tried soaking everything in and jotted my thoughts in my LifeClass journal that I brought along just for this trip. Talk about “gratitude and living with a purpose”! This living in the moment experience has affirmed Oprah’s quote.
I encourage our Dallas readers to attend MegaFest this weekend. Brought by Bishop T.D. Jakes, this is the first year Dallas has hosted this three-day faith and family event. Other than Oprah’s LifeClass, MegaFest will host different events; including upcoming film screenings, gospel concert, speakers, performers and empowerment sessions. Celebrities such as: Joel Osteen, Soledad O’Brien, Jennifer Hudson, Regina King, Brandy, Holly Robinson Peete and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, are among the expected speakers and performers.
These events will be hosted at American Airlines Center, the Dallas Convention Center and the Omni Dallas that kicked off yesterday (08.29.13) and wraps up on Saturday (08.31.13). For a complete schedule of events, please check www.mega-fest.com/#mega-fest. General admission tickets can be purchased by going to www.mega-fest.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
